It’s an uncomfortable feeling to be watched, evaluated, and scrutinized. Yet Jesus experienced it constantly. The religious elites tracked His every move, waiting for a chance to pounce.
As His followers, we aren’t exempt from the spotlight. Bishop J.C. Ryle observed that the world scrutinizes believers at every turn: “Their conduct is scrutinized… Their dress, their expenditures, their use of time, their conduct in all areas of life—all are closely observed. The thought should make us exercise a holy jealousy over all our conduct.”
Like it or not, you are living on center stage. To an unbelieving co-worker, neighbor, or family member, you might be the only “Bible” they ever read.
Your visibility shouldn’t paralyze you with fear—it should propel you to purity. When the world watches, let them see a life so transformed by grace that it points them directly to the Savior. The good news? Jesus knows what it’s like to live under the microscope, and He gives abundant grace when we feel the pressure.
