“Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, ‘Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.’” — Matthew 9:2 (NKJV)

Chronic illness. Crushing guilt. Sudden loss or financial uncertainty. Whatever mountain you’re facing today, no crisis is too complex for the infinite Problem Solver.

In Matthew 9, Jesus encounters a parade of hurting people—a paralytic, an outcast woman, two blind men, and a desperate father. As pastor G. Campbell Morgan observed, Jesus proved His divine authority by meeting each person right at their point of deepest need with tender strength.

When Jesus looked at the crowds, He didn’t see an inconvenience; He was moved with deep compassion because they were “weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd” (Matthew 9:36, NKJV).

Notice that the real issue is never a question of Christ’s ability, but our willingness to trust His authority. Six broken lives were radically transformed in Matthew 9 because they brought their helplessness to Him.

Personal Application: Stop staring at the overwhelming size of your situation today. Take your eyes off the magnitude of your problem and fix them squarely on your compassionate Savior—He is strong enough to carry it, wise enough to handle it, and loving enough to care.
