“And He said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.’” — Mark 5:34 (NKJV)
Surrounded by a bustling, suffocating crowd, Jesus stopped in His tracks. Many were pressing in around Him, but only one touched Him in faith.
For twelve long years, an unnamed woman suffered terribly. Devotional writer F.B. Meyer noted the distinction between proximity and faith: “Crowds throng Him, but only one touches. Proximity to Christ does not necessarily imply the appropriation of Christ. But where there is the faintest touch of faith, there is an instantaneous response.”
Many people hang around Jesus—attending church, hearing sermons, and staying near religious culture—yet never actually reach out and take hold of His grace.
It wasn’t the strength of her touch that healed her, but the object of her faith. Even a trembling, feeble reach toward the Savior released His infinite power into her life.
You can’t experience Christ’s power by remaining a passive spectator in the crowd. Faith isn’t an audience sport; it’s a personal reach.
Personal Application: Are you just blending into the religious crowd today, or are you actively reaching out to Jesus? Whatever physical, emotional, or spiritual need you carry, reach out in simple faith right now—He responds instantly to the faintest cry for help.
