“Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.” —Acts 23:1, NKJV

Standing before the Jewish council, Paul could say something more valuable than claiming popularity or success: his conscience was clear before God.

Your conscience is like an internal warning system. It does not determine what is true—God’s Word does—but it alerts you when your life conflicts with what you know is right. Ignore those warnings long enough, and your conscience can become dull. Respond to them, and they can lead you toward confession, repentance, and restoration.

A clear conscience does not mean you have never sinned. It means you refuse to hide your sin from God. Through Christ, forgiveness and cleansing are available when we confess and turn from sin.

Personal application: Is your conscience troubling you about something today? Don’t silence it, excuse it, or postpone dealing with it. Bring the matter honestly before God. Confess what is wrong, make things right where possible, and receive His forgiveness. The approval that ultimately matters is not people’s applause, but God’s.
